Alleged Kurdish Militant's Appeal Against Estonia Detention Rejected

TALLINN, July 21 (AFP) - An Estonian court on Wednesday refused to release from detention a suspected member of a Kurdish militant group Kawa who is wanted in Turkey for manslaughter, officials said.
"Hemo Heybet Amedsson's appeal was denied and he will stay in detention," Kristiina Heroodes, a spokeswoman for the state prosecutors office told AFP.
An Estonian court had ordered that Amedsson, 40, be detained for 40 days after he was arrested in the Baltic state in mid-June as he tried to enter illegally.
Amedsson is suspected of belonging to banned Kurdish militant group Kawa and is also on the international wanted list.
Heroodes added that while the Turkish authorities have made unofficial approaches to Tallinn, they have not officially demanded that he be extradited.
