ANKARA - Turkish President Abdullah Gul commented on the national and international risks and opportunities before Turkey at the luncheon at the Presidential Palace in Ankara on Wednesday.
During the luncheon he hosted on the occasion of April 23rd, Turkey`s National Sovereignty and Children`s Day, President Gul said that "terrorism, separatism, economy and democratic standards" were some of the current risks and opportunities for Turkey.
"If Turkey cannot transform risks into opportunities within the framework of today`s conjuncture, next generations would pay the price," Gul said.
Gul also said problems should not be covered, instead, they should be discussed openly.
President Gul hosted a luncheon at Cankaya Presidential Palace on the occasion of National Sovereignty and Children`s Day on Wednesday.
Turkey`s Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan, Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, chairmen of the political parties represented at the Turkish parliament and deputy parliament speakers were invited to the luncheon.
Main opposition Republican People`s Party (CHP) chairperson Deniz Baykal did not attend the event.
