BERLIN - The Turkish director of a vocational education institution in the German capital, Berlin was presented with the Presidential Order of Merit of Germany for his contribution to integration.
Nihat Sorgec, director of the education institution "BildungsWerk in Kreuzberg", received his award from German Labor & Social Security Minister Olaf Scholz at a ceremony held in Berlin on Wednesday.
During the ceremony, minister Scholz said solidarity and social assistance were of great importance for societies.
Sorgec, who is also the deputy chairman of Turkish-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, said that companies should exert more efforts in order to help young people achieve success in their daily and professional lives.
He also said most of the young people who attended educational programs in BildungsWerk in Kreuzberg managed to find jobs after completing their education.
"BildungsWerk in Kreuzberg" (Kreuzberg Educational Works) is an independent qualification and learning center, especially for vocational training and education. The center has three operating sites in Berlin.
Most of the courses offered by the center are specially designed for the benefit of socially disadvantaged or unemployed youngsters and young adults.
