Turkey Ranked 8th In Tax Burden Among OECD Countries

ANKARA - Turkey is ranked the 8th among members of Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in terms of tax burden over employees.
Regarding the tax burden over the average salary, Turkey was ranked the 1st among 30 OECD-member countries with a figure of 42.7 percent in 2007, officials from the Turkish Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.
Turkey is now ranked the 8th as a result of the new "minimum living allowance" arrangement that came into effect as of January 1st, 2008.
The rate of the tax burden over the average salary in Turkey also dropped to 38.9 percent after such arrangement.
