ISTANBUL - Turkish MD Prof. Yalcin Karakoca won young researcher award in Japan for his "resector balloon" technique he developed 2.5 years ago.
Medicana Hospitals Chest Diseases Department Chief Karakoca developed the technique to increase life quality as well as extend life of patients suffering from lung cancer.
Prof. Karakoca, who attended the 15th World Congress for Bronchology in Japan with his resector balloon technique, became one of the three doctors who won young researcher award.
Karakoca said that he developed the technique in 2.5 years and had been applying it to his patients for the last 1.5 years.
Karakoca said that his team and he developed the resection technique and designed a special balloon by which resection of endoluminal airway lesions could be safely and successfully done.
Resector balloon can be applied for both endoluminal and submucosal lesions.
