Air Force Commanders From Southern Europe Meet In Izmir

IZMIR - The Aegean city of Izmir was the venue of an international meeting which brought together air force commanders of various countries from southern Europe between April 20th and 22nd.
NATO Allied Air Component Command Izmir (CC-Air Izmir), which hosted the meeting, said in a statement on Tuesday that French, Croatian, Italian, Hungarian, Portuguese and Slovenian air force commanders attended the meeting.
High-level officials from Turkish, Spanish, Romanian and Greek air forces participated in the meeting as well, the statement said.
During the meeting, participants discussed the steps taken in order to achieve the envisaged targets regarding the NATO Command and Control Systems.
Allied Air Forces Southern Europe, or AIRSOUTH for short, served the Southern Region of NATO up until having transformed into the present-day CC-Air Izmir on August 11th, 2004.
Currently, members from 17 NATO Nations are represented at CC-Air HQ Izmir. These are Bulgaria, Canada, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and USA.
