ANKARA - Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and Eurocopter firm signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) to expand their cooperation to manufacture Super Puma/Cougar helicopters.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Eurocopter said that the MoA was signed by TAI Director General Oktay Tezsezen and Eurocopter CEO Fabrice Bregier on July 13, 2004.
It said that the aim of the MoA was to entitle TAI as the main source and a perfect production center which supplies world-wide needs of Eurocopter in terms of manufacturing of Super Puma/Cougar and EC225/725 helicopter fuselages.
Within framework of the Phoenix 2 agreement (thirty Cougar AS 532s) and EUROTAI consortium, TAI has been manufacturing specific parts of helicopters like the fuselage, cargo area and tail, Eurocopter said and noted that TAI had also completed assembly of 28 of the 30 Cougar helicopters.
Eurocopter recalled that TAI had handed over the first complete Cougar fuselage on March 15, 2004 to Eurocopter facilities.
