KUALA LUMPUR - Companies from 49 countries attend the 11th Defense Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA 2008) that opened in Malaysia`s capital Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Malaysian Deputy PM & National Defense Minister Dato Sri Mohd Najib said Turkey had a significant development in defense industry.
36 companies from Turkey participate in the DSA 2008 fair.
Over 700 companies from 49 countries and nearly 500 high-ranking military and civilian executives attend the fair. 25,000 people are expected to visit the fair.
Industry experts said Turkish defense industry companies are expected to draw intense interest at the exhibition, which is the largest fair in Asia. The exhibition is important for Turkish companies to open up eastern Asia countries such as, Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines, which are the target areas for the sector, experts added.
With over 200 companies, 2.5 billion USD of annual turnover and 500 million USD of exports, Turkish defense industry sells products to many countries including NATO members and focuses on original production.
