ALANYA - President Abdullah Gul awarded the winners of the 44th Presidential International Cycling Tour in southern province of Antalya on Sunday.
Addressing ceremony held on this occasion Gul said, "Turkey will host many international sports activities in the coming years and I hope some day Turkey will organize the Olympic Games."
Garcia Dapena David of Spain`s Karpin Galicia team ranked the first in the tour and the most successful team was Serramenti Pvc Diouigiovanni of Spain.
150 cyclers of 25 teams from 16 countries competed in the tour which covers a grand prix in Istanbul and seven legs between the Aegean town of Kusadasi and Antalya`s town Alanya.
The 44th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey started at Istanbul`s Sultanahmet square. Riders will tour Turkey`s Aegean and Mediterranean coast and visit several ancient cities such as, Efes (Ephesus), Side, Aspendos, as well as many tourist resorts such as Oludeniz (Blue Lagoon), Dalyan and ruins of ancient Lycia civilization. The tour finished in Alanya town of Mediterranean province of Antalya on April 20th.
