5,000 COMMANDOS IN OPERATION
More than 5,000 commandos are participating in the air and ground operations against the terrorist organization PKK who were preparing to stage terrorist acts in the mountainous areas of Sirnak. In a separate operation in the rural area of Kars` Kagizman town, troops killed five terrorists. One soldier died and another was wounded in the operation.
TWO GIANT AWARDS FROM UNITED STATES TO "BEYAZ MELEK"
"Beyaz Melek" (The White Angel), the first film directed by Turkish folk singer Mahsun Kirmizigul, competed with 450 films in 41st WorldFest Houston International Film Festival--one of the oldest festivals in the United States. The film received the best foreign film award and best director jury special award.
The head of the festival, Hunter Todd defined Beyaz Melek as an extraordinary and perfect film. Todd said it was the most touching film he had watched recently. Steven Spielberg and Oliver Stone also got awards in the festival.

ISTANBUL IS THE RIGHT PLACE FOR "TRUMP TOWERS"
A ceremony was held on Saturday night for the first Trump Towers of Europe which would be built in Mecidiyekoy district of Istanbul. Dogan Holding`s CEO and Tasyapi Executive Board President welcomed the guests.
Ivanka Trump represented Trump company. Trump said, "we have found the right place and the right partner."
"WHITE ANGEL" WINGS IN U.S.
Mahsun Kirmizigul`s film "Beyaz Melek" (White Angel) that competed in 41st International Houston Film Festival on behalf of Turkey, got the best foreign film and jury special award for the best director award.

LEGENDARY CHAMPION BILGE DIES
85-year-old world and olympiad champion Turkish wrestler Gazenfer Bilge died in Istanbul on Sunday.
Bilge will be laid to rest on Monday.

SUPER CHILDREN
58 students will graduate from TEV Inanc Turkes high school in Gebze town of western province of Kocaeli this year. 11 of the 58 students were accepted to respectable universities of the world as "professional fellow". This number is expected to rise to 30 at the end of June.
It is almost a guarantee that other graduates of the school will win leading universities of Turkey.
SOLDIER DIES IN KARS
Corporal Zulkuf Tekir died and a private was injured in clash with the terrorists in Kagizman town of eastern province of Kars.
Security forces killed 5 terrorists in the operation.

CLASH IN KARS: ONE SOLDIER DIES
A clash erupted between security forces and terrorists in operations against the terrorist organization PKK in the rural area of Kars` Kagizman town. Five terrorists were killed in the operation. Private Zulkif Tekir died and private Osman Gokkaya was wounded.
WE LOST BILGE
World and olympic champion Turkish wrestler Gazanfer Bilge died of liver problems. He was 85. Bilge was receiving treatment at hospital for some time.

ERDOGAN: DEMOCRATIC POLITICS HAS NO ALTERNATIVE
In the women`s branches congress of the Justice & Development (AK) Party, Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan defined the members of his party as "a group adopting and protecting the values of the Republic." Addressing the opposition, Erdogan said, "we are in this hall because we believe this nation does not deserve negligent and deaf politicians." Erdogan also said, "trying to make politics not a place to solve problems is the biggest harm." Erdogan said, "democratic politics has not any acceptable alternative."
DAY OF DECISION ON MAY 1
The government will discuss on Monday whether or not to declare May 1 as a festival and official holiday. May 1 is celebrated as the festival of labor and workers in 150 countries.

TEMSA IN EGYPT
Turkish Temsa company opened a factory with Lasheen Group in Egypt. The factory has a capacity to manufacture 500 buses and 500 vans a year. Sabanci Holding`s Chairperson Guler Sabanci also participated in the inauguration ceremony. The factory is the first foreign investment of Turkish automotive industry.
NATURAL GAS SUMMIT TO END RUSSIAN MONOPOLY
Akkan Suver, the chairman of the Marmara Group Foundation, said the Nabucco natural gas project will be high on agenda in the Eurasian Summit to take place in Istanbul for the 11th time this year. Suver said, "after this project is implemented, Russia cannot use natural gas as a political blackmail. Nabucco will be a guarantee for both Eurasia and Europe." Representatives of 30 countries will meet in the summit on May 1st-3rd.

ALSO CHP`S FILE IN CONSTITUTIONAL COURT
Turkey is facing a third shock after the closure cases filed against the Democratic Society Party (DTP) and the Justice & Development (AK) Party. The Republican People`s Party (CHP) did not give any invoice for about 3 million new Turkish liras (YTL) it gave to private TV channel Kanalturk. Moreover, Kanalturk said and tried to prove that it got this money from other institutions or persons. This was against the Article 69 of the Constitution and articles 67 and 70 of the Political Parties Act. The Finance Ministry`s Revenues Administration informed the Constitutional Court about this issue on May 9th, 2007. Supreme Court Chief Prosecutor Abdurrahman Yalcinkaya, who filed closure cases against political parties, will deal with this file regarding the CHP. If the court says that the money was transferred to the TV channel illegally, CHP will also face a closure threat.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT TO BE COLLECTED UNDER A SINGLE UMBRELLA
A disaster and emergency case management department will be set up under the auspices of the Prime Ministry to deal with all natural disasters effectively.

TURKEY REPORT INCLUDING "ERGENEKON"
Turkey Report of the European Parliament says the parliament encourages the Turkish authorities to resolutely pursue investigations into the Ergenekon affair and supports its fight against terrorism.
The report said European Union (EU) should see importance of Turkey and give visa facilities.
The report said European Parliament felt grave concern over the possible results of closure of AK Party, noting it expected the Turkish Constitutional Court to act in accordance with the Venice Commission guidelines on the prohibition of political parties and European standards.
TEMSA FACTORY TO EGYPT
Turkish bus maker Temsa, a Sabanci Holding company, opened its first overseas factory in Egypt.
Temsa plans to sell its buses mainly in Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Sudan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and Saudi Arabia.
