PARIS - An agreement was reached during a meeting between Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Jacques Chirac of France over purchase of 36 Airbus planes by Turkey for the Turkish Airlines (THY), sources said on Tuesday.
The issue of purchase of French-German joint production Airbus planes was one of the agenda items of the meeting between Prime Minister Erdogan and President Chirac.
During the meeting, the sides reached an agreement in principle.
A-320, A-321 and A-330 Airbus planes will cost Turkey about 1.5 billion U.S. dollars.
Details of the agreement will be clarified soon, sources added.
