Foreign Minister Gul Returns To Turkey

ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul returned to Turkey on Tuesday.
Gul represented the Turkish government at the ceremonies in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to mark the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day.
Speaking at the Ankara's Esenboga Airport after his arrival, Gul said, ''results of the referenda in Cyprus has created a new situation in the island. Besides interest of Turkey and Turkish Cypriot people, the Peace Operation also protected benefits of the whole region. There have not been any clashes in the island since 1974. Greek Cypriot side rejected the desire of living together in the island in the referenda. Now, Turkish Cypriot people should be granted their rights.''
Recalling that TRNC reached a growth rate of 12 percent last year, Gul said that they had encouraged Turkish businessmen to invest in TRNC.
Upon a question, Gul said that training of Iraqi security forces by NATO would not be discussed during tomorrow's meeting of neighboring countries with Iraq.
