At Least Two Iraqis Killed, Seven Injured In Samarra

SAMARRA, Iraq, July 20 (AFP) - At least two Iraqis were killed and seven injured Tuesday in the restive northern city of Samarra, hospital sources said, apparently in explosions.
"We have received two dead people and seven injured, including a child," said Doctor Sabri Abdul Hamid at Samarra's main hospital.
Powerful explosions rocked Samarra's northern edge near the Al-Qadisiyah starting neighbourhood at about 7:00 pm (1500 GMT), an AFP correspondent said, although it was not immeditatley clear what caused them.
Mosques were urging residents over loudspeakers to donate blood.
It was not immediately clear if the latest violence was linked to fighting between US and Iraqi forces and insurgents holed up inside the city.
The US military in Baghdad said it had no information yet about any fresh fighting in Samarra.
The city, 125 kilometres (75 miles) north of Baghdad, has been the scene of sporadic deadly clashes since a powerful suicide car bomb attack on July 8 on the city's Iraqi National Guard headquarters killed five US soldiers and four Iraqi guardsmen.
