Iran Accuses Israel Of Trying To Divide Up Iraq

TEHRAN, July 20 (AFP) - Iran`s Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi on Tuesday accused arch-foe Israel of trying to divide up neighbouring Iraq, the official news agency IRNA reported.
"The Zionist regime`s secessionist efforts in Iraq are dangerous and Iraq`s integrity should be preserved," Kharazi was quoted as telling visiting Italian deputy foreign minister Alfredo Mantica.
Kharazi did not elaborate on his allegation, but Iran has recently voiced its concern over the reported presence of Israeli agents in the ethnic Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
He said the ongoing violence in the country was a result of "US unilateralism" and said only the "holding of general elections and giving back sovereignity to the Iraqis will bring the situation will be back to normal."
