ANKARA - Turkish General Staff said Saturday that Turkey and Egypt signed an agreement to improve military relations and cooperation.
Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit paid a formal visit to Egypt from April 14th to 17th and met commander-in-chief of Egyptian Armed Forces Mar. Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who is also the defense minister, Turkish military said in a statement in its website.
The statement said that Buyukanit and Tantawi agreed to improve and further military relations and cooperation between the two countries and that a memorandum of understanding was signed on April 16th.
The agreement will boost military relations between the armed forces of Turkey and Egypt, it said.
The statement added that Buyukanit also met Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak during his visit to Cairo.
