ISLAMABAD - Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan said on Friday that Turkey was working in close solidarity with Pakistan over its fight against international terrorism.
Babacan, who is currently in Pakistan on a formal visit, told reporters that he was the first Turkish high-level official visiting this country after the new government is formed in Pakistan.
"The goal of my visit is to tell Pakistan`s people that we will be together with them in good and bad days and to reaffirm that we are ready to cooperate in every field," Babacan said.
He also said that Turkish government established a platform for talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan and the leaders of the two countries met in Istanbul to start talks and shake hands.
"Both Afghanistan and Pakistan are pleased over this process. We are now planning a new summit," he said. "I think leaders of Pakistan and Afghanistan will meet in Istanbul soon."
He said Turkey wants Afghanistan and Pakistan to solve problems peacefully and become countries in which peace and prosperity prevail.
During his talks in Pakistan, Babacan will be received by Pakistan`s President Pervez Musharraf and meet Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Babacan will also have a meeting with Pakistan`s Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of Pakistan People`s Party and former Pakistan PM Benazir Bhutto`s husband.
