Senior European Official Denies Ak Party Asked For A Statement On Closure Case

ISTANBUL - A senior official with Europe`s chief human rights body rejected claims that Turkey`s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party had asked for a statement to be issued on a case to close AK Party.
"No, there was no such request," Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, deputy secretary-general of the Council of Europe, told reporters at an Istanbul reception on Friday.
Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe issued a statement earlier in the day, expressing "concern" over the closure case.
