American Travel Agencies Association To Gather In Istanbul

ISTANBUL - American travel agencies association will meet in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
The International Destination Expo (IDE) meeting of American Society of Travel Agencies (ASTA) would take place in Istanbul in 2010, Turkey`s Culture & Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay told a press conference on Friday.
"There is something significant about this meeting because Istanbul will have a special status in 2010; i.e. the Cultural Capital of Europe," Gunay said.
Also speaking in the press conference, the president of ASTA said the meeting would be held on April 19th-22nd, 2010.
ASTA`s President Cheryl Hudak forecast that around 1,500-2,000 people might visit Istanbul for the meeting.
Founded in 1931 as the American Steamship and Tourist Agents` Association, ASTA and its affiliates now comprise the world`s largest and most influential travel trade association with members in 140 countries.
