Unions Of Chambers From Turkey, Greece, TRNC And Greek Cypriot Administration To Meet In Cyprus

BRUSSELS - Chairman of Turkey`s most influential trade union said Friday that Unions of Chambers from Turkey ,Greece, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Greek Cypriot administration would get together in Cyprus to discuss ways to contribute to the solution of the Cyprus issue.
Head of Turkey`s Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Rifat Hisarciklioglu who held meetings with European Commissioner for Enterprise and Industry Gunter Verheugen and EU`s Director General for Enlargement Michael Leigh in Brussels held a press conference to brief reporters on these meetings.
"I am announcing here for the first time. My Greek colleague whom I work together under the Eurochambers organisation, accepted the proposal I made during the Balkan Chambers Summit two weeks ago. We will sit around the same table with officials of Unions of Chambers from Greece, TRNC and Greek Cypriot administration on May 23rd and discuss what we can do. The European Commission expressed excitement over our initiative," said Hisarciklioglu.
Hisarciklioglu said he discussed Turkey`s visa issues with EU countries, EU`s quotas over Turkey in transportation sector, and EU`s trade agreements with third countries in his meetings with Verheugen and Leigh.
"I see that EU, too, recognises the need to reassess these issues which create unfair competition against Turkey. I am hopeful after this visit to Brussels," said Hisarciklioglu.
