Delegation From World Heritage Committee To Visit Istanbul

ISTANBUL - A delegation from the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will pay a visit to Istanbul in May.
Istanbul Deputy Governor Cumhur Guven Tasbasi told the A.A correspondent on Friday that the delegation would visit cultural assets of Istanbul between May 9th and 13th.
World Heritage Committee would make a decision in regard to placing Istanbul on the List of World Heritage in Danger in a meeting which would take place in Canada in June, Tasbasi said.
"We have been working for two years in accordance with the report that was prepared by the committee. We have been trying to fulfill what is said in the report," he said.
The List of World Heritage in Danger is designed to inform the international community of conditions which threaten the very characteristics for which a property was inscribed on the World Heritage List, and to encourage corrective action.
