LEFKOSA - Turkish Cypriot foreign minister held talks with a German parliamentarian in Lefkosa on Thursday.
After his meeting with German Social Democratic Party deputy Gerd Andres, Foreign Minister Turgay Avci of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said the cancellation of Andres` talks in the Greek Cypriot side was a typical incident stemming from the Greek Cypriot politics.
"Anyone, who asks the opinion of Turkish Cypriots, is declared the `unwanted person` in the Greek side of the island," Avci said during the meeting.
He said European Union (EU) member countries should be brave and establish contacts with Turkish Cypriots at every platform.
"Otherwise, they will not be able to learn the truth and their knowledge will be limited to what they have been hearing from Greek Cypriots for years," he added.
German deputy Andres paid a visit to the Democrat Party of TRNC as well.
During this visit, Andres said he felt quite sorry that his talks in the Greek Cypriot side were cancelled without any reasons.
He also said that he believed something bad must have happened, otherwise, his meetings would not have been cancelled.
Andres, who also serves as the chairman of Turkey Cyprus policies coordination group of his party, arrived in TRNC`s Ercan airport on April 16th.
He was first received by President Mehmet Ali Talat of TRNC.
Andres was planning to proceed to the Greek Cypriot side to meet Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias. However, his talks were cancelled.
