AMMAN, July 20 (AFP) - EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said Tuesday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon`s call to French Jews to quit their country and emigrate to France was "offensive."
"It is a bilateral issue, the French governement has decided not to invite Sharon to visit France, because some of the expressions of Sharon were offensive to the government and people of France," he told a news conference in the Jordanian capital.
"Even the leader of the Jewish community in France said that they don`t want to abandon France, but I don`t want to give more comments on this," he said.
Solana, on a four-day tour of the Middle East, earlier held talks with Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Moasher on the Palestinian crisis and Iraq.
