ANTALYA - The 7th conference of transportation and communication ministers of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) began in the southern province of Antalya on Thursday.
Besides Turkey, representatives from ECO member countries such as Iran, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are attending the conference.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said Turkey had been conducting important transportation infrastructure projects which would connect Europe to Asia.
"I believe that Turkey is the key of regional cooperation, international peace, stability and prosperity," he said.
Yildirim said ECO was an important instrument in terms of boosting living standards of people, maintaining sustainable development and peace in the region.
He said they attached great importance to the frame agreement on transit transportation among ECO member states which aimed at easing transportation of goods and people in ECO countries and lifting obstacles before transit transportation.
