BEIJING - Turkish Airlines (THY) is expected to carry 2,500 tons of cargo from Beijing, China in 2008, the airlines` director said on Thursday.
Melih Topuz, THY`s director in China, told the AA correspondent that there had been an increase of 32 percent in cargo transport from Beijing in 2007 over to the previous year and THY would increase it this year.
"THY became a member of the Star Alliance, an international airline group, on April 1st. We believe that the membership would bring about favorable developments for the airlines," Topuz said.
Turkish exports to China amounted to 1.1 billion USD in 2007 and this figure is expected to become 1.7 billion USD in 2008.
