Bomb Blows Up Near Israeli Troops In Gaza, No Casualties

JERUSALEM, July 20 (AFP) - An explosive device blew up in the path of an Israeli army unit in the northern Gaza town of Beit Hanun on Tuesday, an army spokeswoman said, adding there were no casualties.
Palestinian witnesses said an army tank had been hit and that the radical Hamas movement claimed responsibity for the attack.
The claim was made through a hailspeaker by a member of Hamas' armed wing -- the Ezzedin al-Qassam Brigades -- in the nearby community of Beit Lahyia, residents told AFP.
Israeli troops swarmed into Beit Hanun late last month after rockets fired from that territory hit a southern Israeli town, leaving two people dead.
