PRAGUE - Czech police will be drafted in to help their Swiss colleagues at the 2008 European Football Championships, interior ministers from the two countries announced on Thursday.
"Czech police will be sent to Switzerland during the European Championships to help Swiss security bodies with their work," a joint statement said.
The cooperation will include close cooperation on security questions before and during the tournament co-hosted by Switzerland and Austria from June 7-29. The number of Czech police to be sent was not disclosed.
The Czech team plays all its Group A games in Switzerland, kicking off the championship with the opener against the hosts in Basel on June 7, taking on Portugal four days later in Geneva and staying in the same city for the June 15 clash with Turkey.
Czech interior minister Ivan Langer agreed a similar cooperation with Austria last November.
