Erdogan: Government Targets To Adopt Amendment To Article 301

ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that the government targets to adopt the amendment on article 301 of Turkish Penal Code immediately.
Speaking to reporters in his arrival from Qatar, Erdogan said that the related committee is still working on the amendment to the article.
Article 301 of Turkish Penal Code was used to prosecute those who "insult Turkishness."
Erdogan said that approaches such as "this is imposition of the EU" (regarding the amendment) are not good.
He said that the amendment to article 301 was brought onto agenda upon a serious demand of the country.
Regarding his meetings in Qatar, Erdogan said that he told about the recent developments in Turkish economy during the 8th Doha Forum on Democracy, Development, and Free Trade.
Erdogan said that he listened to the problems of Turkish citizens residing in Qatar and also addressed Turkish and Qatari businessmen in a meeting.
He said that Turkey attaches importance to develop relations with Gulf countries.
