ANKARA - NATO allies will participate at an exercise designed to practice crisis management procedures at the strategic political level which will involve civilian and military staffs in capital cities of member countries, a statement from the Alliance has said.
The annual exercise, CMX-2008, will begin on Wednesday and follow a scenario based on "a progressively deteriorating security situation beyond the Euro-Atlantic area, featuring an ongoing multi-national peacekeeping operation, a humanitarian crisis, terrorism, and threats by one nation against a neighbour," but no forces will be deployed for the exercise, NATO said.
Crisis management offices from the Turkish Prime Ministry and the General Staff will participate in the exercise.
NATO partner nations and NATO Mediterranean Dialogue partners will also participate in the six-day exercise.
