ANKARA - Foreign Minister Ali Babacan will represent Turkey in an international conference of foreign ministers of Iraq`s neighboring states which will take place in Kuwait next week.
Turkey initiated the process of international conference on Iraq in 2003. Foreign ministers of Iraq`s neighboring countries gathered in formal meetings for nine times and in informal ones for four times.
In 2007 Istanbul hosted the conference which was designed to contribute concretely to the Iraqi government and people`s efforts to restore permanent peace, stability and prosperity in their country through invigoration of the existing national reconciliation dialogue, in combatting terrorism, strengthening the rule of law and widening participation in the political process.
