Number Of Unemployed In Turkey Climbs To 2,567,000

ANKARA - The number of unemployed people in Turkey in January 2008 rose by 59,000 when compared to the same month last year and reached 2,567,000.
According to the Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK), the number of employed Turks decreased by 278,000 compared to January 2007 and is 20,112,000.
TUIK said that 41.9 percent of all employed Turks are non-registered.
