NICOSIA (CIHAN) - The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC), Rauf Denktas received Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül who is in Cyprus for the July 20th Peace and Freedom Day.
Speaking at the meeting Gül said that, "We are happy to be with people of Cyprus. The future of the KKTC was under threat 30 years ago but Turkey prevented that threat. This was a big accomplishment. Turkish Cypriots have stood up to the world for 30 years."
"Turkey is fulfilling its responsibility to the KKTC and it gives its support politically and economically. We will continue to be on KKTC's side". Gül said.
Gül is expected to meet with KKTC Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat on Monday.
