50 Dehap Members Detained In Clash With Police

DIYARBAKIR (CIHAN) - Members of the Women's Branch of the pro-Kurdish Democratic People's Party (DEHAP) clashed with riot-police on Monday in the southeastern Turkish city of Diyarbakýr.
The tumult sparked when the DEHAP sympathizers wanted to hold an illegal sit-in demonstration they called "No to isolation of Abdullah Ocalan." Nearly 50 demonstrators were detained following the tumult. Some protesters and police officers were wounded in the clash.
The leader of the outlawed PKK terrorist organization Abdullah Öcalan is currently serving a life sentence on Imrali island
Some of the protesters entered the DEHAP office to escape from police.
Police will initiate legal action against the demonstrators for disobeying demonstration law number 2911.
