Istanbul To Host Spanish Painter's Works

ISTANBUL - Turkey's metropolis of Istanbul will host an exhibition consisting of works of best-known Spanish cubist painter, Joan Miro.
Miro's imprints, paintings and sculptures will be on display at the Suna and Inan Kirac Foundation Pera Museum beginning on May 3rd.
A total of 120 works of Miro will be on display in Istanbul until August 31st.
The exhibition is co-sponsored by France's first private contemporary art foundation Maeght Foundation.
A press conference will be held in Istanbul regarding the exhibition. A member of the Maeght Family, Yoyo Maeght will also attend the press conference.
Joan Miro (April 20, 1893 - December 25, 1983) was a Catalan (Spanish) painter, sculptor, and ceramist born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain to the family of a goldsmith and watchmaker. His work has been interpreted as Surrealism, a sandbox for the subconscious mind, a re-creation of the childlike, and a manifestation of Catalan pride. In numerous interviews dating from the 1930s onwards, Miro expressed contempt for conventional painting methods and his desire to "kill", "murder", or "rape" them in favor of more contemporary means of expression.
