Turkey Imports Energy Worth 33 Billion Usd Annually

ANKARA - A Turkish parliamentary committee head said Monday Turkey imported energy worth 33 billion USD annually.
Speaking to AA, head of the Turkish parliamentary Global Warming and Water Resources Committee, Mustafa Ozturk, said that Turkey imported 73 percent of energy resources.
"Turkey is highly dependent on foreign resources for its energy needs," Ozturk said.
"53 percent of natural gas imported by Turkey is utilized in the production of electricity. Accordingly, the cost of electric production is high in Turkey," Ozturk underlined.
