ANKARA - Palestine's top diplomat in Turkey paid a visit of courtesy to the Anadolu Agency (AA) headquarters in Ankara on Monday.
Palestinian Ambassador in Ankara Nabil Maarouf met AA's Executive Board President and Director General Dr. Hilmi Bengi.
Maarouf requested AA's assistance in promoting the activities of the Palestinian Culture Week to take place between May 5th and 14th in Turkish capital of Ankara and metropolis of Istanbul.
"We feel like we are at home in Ankara. We feel as if we are part of the same family," Maarouf said.
"Turkey provides both political and economic support to Palestine," Maarouf said.
"Our goal is to carry Turkish-Palestinian relations to the highest point possible. As such, we will hold a Palestinian culture week in May," Maarouf underlined.
"As part of the Palestinian culture week, folk dancers from Palestine will perform in Ankara and Istanbul. Hand made souvenirs from Palestine will be on display and sale. We will hold a photography fair which will be comprised of pictures taken during the Ottoman era in Palestine," Maarouf said.
Receiving ambassador Maarouf, Dr. Hilmi Bengi said that "the Turks have always been on the side of Palestinians. We are saddened by the fact that Palestine is always remembered with painful incidents. The Palestinian culture week will display Palestine's roots, historical past and cultural richness. We see it as a duty to promote the Palestinian week."
"I believe that the Palestinian culture week will be successful and beneficial," Dr. Bengi also said.
