Northern Cyprus President Meets U.N. Under-Secretary-General

LEFKOSA - President Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) received a UN delegation led by Lynn Pascoe, UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, in Lefkosa on Monday.
Upon a question about the opening date of the Lokmaci Gate, Pascoe told reporters that a press release will be issued later in the day.
Pascoe and Talat will have another meeting on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Hasan Ercakica, spokesman for TRNC President, said that Talat conveyed Turkish Cypriots` expectations during his meeting with UN delegation.
"We underscored that we expect UN to get involved more actively in this new process," Ercakica said.
Ercakica added that no date was set for the opening of the Lokmaci Gate.
