"WE WILL INTENSIFY OUR EFFORTS FOR TRNC'S TAKING ITS DESERVED PLACE IN INTERNATIONAL FORA"

ANKARA - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc said on Monday, ''Turkey will intensify its efforts to pave the way for Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to take the place it deserved in international fora.''
Arinc sent congratulatory messages to President Rauf Denktas of TRNC and TRNC Parliament Speaker Fatma Ekenoglu on the eve of the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day.
In his message to President Denktas, Arinc said, ''Turkish parliament has always defended legitimate rights of Turkish Cypriot people and their struggle to live freely and in peace. It will continue to do so in the future. The Turkish side has fulfilled its responsibilities to find a fair and lasting solution to the (Cyprus) problem. Turkey will also do everything in its power to put an end to unfair embargoes and isolation of TRNC.''
Recalling that Turkey's peace operation (in 1974) had ended the attacks targeting the Turkish Cypriot people and assured tranquillity and stability in the island, Arinc said in his message to Ekenoglu, ''Turkish Cypriot people have proved their determination to live freely since 1974. They were able to found the TRNC thanks to the atmosphere of security and tranquillity provided by the Peace Operation. And despite all those embargoes and efforts to isolate them, they have made a significant progress.''
