Northern Cyprus President Meets Technical Committees And Working Groups

LEFKOSA - President Mehmet Ali Talat of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) held a meeting with members of technical committees and working groups which were set up under March 21st agreement.
On March 21st, 2008, Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias reached an agreement and decided to establish technical committees and working groups which would work on substantial and technical issues about Cyprus.
Talat said that agenda of many of the technical committees and working groups were set.
He said that this was the first meeting, and added that a new meeting can be held on Monday.
Talat`s Special Representative for EU & UN talks Ozdil Nami and Greek Cypriot Administration Commissioner George Iacovou also met today, and set agenda of the one more committee.
Accordingly, agenda of a total of 12 committees and groups were set. Agenda of the remaining one committee will be set on Monday.
Under March 21st agreement, Talat and Christofias decided to establish six working groups and seven technical committees. Working groups will focus on substantial issues about Cyprus, while technical committees will work on daily technical issues.
