Despite that pedestrian passages were mutually opened yesterday at Lokmacy checkpoint in Nicosia, the closing of the crossing points by the Greek Cypriot administration for reopening three hours later "was an expected development" which was later confirmed as a result of Greek Cypriot impressions of providing compromise.
Pointed out that the Greek Cypriots had felt they have provided a compromise, an authority from the TRNC stated that the aim of the Greek Cypriots was to issue the authority of the Turkish controlled areas to the UN Peace Keeping Forces.
Underlining that "the entire manoeuvre is with this intent", the authority added, "If this does not take place, they will close crossings the next day. If they do not achieve this aim, this procedure will continue."
