ISTANBUL - Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday Turkey is a democratic, secular and social state based on the rule of law.
Speaking at the Turkey-EU Joint Consultation Committee meeting, Erdogan said the current government in Turkey is aware of Turkey's characteristics.
"International visits by Turkish authorities continue. Foreign delegations are being welcomed to Turkey. Regardless of where we go or who we welcome, our goal is to negotiate our EU process with them," Erdogan said.
"As Turkey, we have priorities related to the economy, democracy, human rights and freedoms, domestic politics as well as foreign policies. Our priorities are complementary with the EU criteria," Erdogan underlined.
"Turkey has not lost its determination to join the EU. Turkey will go on with its EU process in a determined manner," Erdogan also said.
