BAKU - Turkish State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek said Friday Azerbaijan and Turkey are two brotherly countries.
Speaking after his tete-a-tete meeting with Azerbaijan's Minister of Emergency Situations Kemmalladin Heydarov, Cicek said that "Turkish-Azerbaijani relations are important for regional peace".
"I was pleased to see Azerbaijan more developed since my last visit to this country. We are honored and happy to see that Azerbaijan has reached many of its goals," Cicek said.
"Peace, stability and development in Azerbaijan are important for peace in the region," Cicek noted.
Meanwhile, Heydarov indicated that Ataturk's statement "Azerbaijan's happiness is our happiness and Azerbaijan's sadness is our sadness" and former Azerbaijani President Haydar Aliyev's statement "One nation, two states" describe the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
"We have received assistance from Turkey in diverse areas in the past. We will make use of Turkey's experiences in topics such as fires and earthquakes," Heydarov underlined.
"We will procure fire extinguishing equipment, equipment to be used in search and rescue operations from Turkey," Heydarov said.
"As two neighbors, we will hold joint exercises in emergency situations," Heydarov noted.
Cemil Cicek met Azerbaijan's Minister of Justice Fikrat Mamedov over lunch on Friday. Cicek's meeting with Mamedov that was to take place in the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice on Friday afternoon has been cancelled.
Cicek will visit several facilities belonging to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations on Saturday.
