ISTANBUL - A Turkish durable goods manufacturer has won a design award for its vacuum cleaner.
Turkey's durable goods manufacturer, Arcelik, was honored with a high-prestige industrial design award for one of vacuum cleaners of its brand "Beko", the manufacturer said in a statement on Friday.
An international jury --comprised of designers and design experts from around the world-- decided to give "Red Dot" design award to Beko's vacuum cleaner after they evaluated it according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality and formal quality.
Beko's executives will get the award in a ceremony in Essen, Germany on June 21st.
With more than 7,000 submissions from 60 countries, the international "red dot design award" ranks among the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world. It is divided into the "red dot award: product design", the "red dot award: communication design" and the "red dot award: design concept." The award-winning products are put before an international public in the red dot design museum.
