WASHINGTON, D.C. - Turkey's state minister for Treasury arrived in Washington, D.C. on Thursday to hold talks with executives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB).
State Minister Mehmet Simsek will also participate in the spring meetings of the IMF-WB in the U.S. capital.
Simsek will hold a conference at the George Washington University on "the new posture of Turkish financial markets in the finance world" on Friday.
The Turkish minister will later talk about Turkish economy at a think-tank organization, Brookings Institute.
During his stay in Washington, D.C., Simsek is expected to meet WB President Robert Zoellick, European Investment Bank's President Philippe Maystadt, and African Development Bank's President Donald Kaberuka.
Also, Simsek is to speak at the Institute of International Finance, attend the 27th annual conference of the American Turkish Council (ATC), and talk about "U.S-Turkey Relations: Regional Allies, Global Partners" at a luncheon on April 14th.
Simsek is expected to proceed to New York after completing his talks in the U.S. capital, and depart for Turkey after meeting investors in this U.S. metropolis on April 15th.
