ANKARA - The European Union (EU) will grant scholarships to 120 Turkish students for 2005-2006 academic year within the framework of Jean Monnet Scholarship Programs carried out under agreements signed by Turkish Foreign Ministry and the EU Commission, sources said on Saturday.
Jean Monnet Scholarship to be granted to Turkish students to meet Turkey's need for qualified personnel will be met by EU funds.
The scholarship program will be carried out by Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Those who want the scholarship should apply to the Jean Monnet Placement Agency till 12 p.m. on October 15th, 2004.
The pre-exam will be held in Turkish capital of Ankara on November 19th, 2004 while the candidates will have an oral exam after the written examination.
60 percent of those who will be granted scholarships will be chosen from public sector, 30 percent from universities and 10 percent from private sector.
The scholarship will cover areas such as Customs Union; free movement of people, capital, services and goods; state tenders; competition and state assistance; common agriculture policies; economic and monetary union; social policy and employment; industrial policies; small and medium scale enterprises; regional policies; justice and internal affairs; European Security and Defense Policy; financial audit; consumer policy; energy policy; transportation policy; environment policy; statistics; intellectual property rights and telecommunication policy.
