LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat said on Saturday that Bostanci border pass would be opened for people who wanted to cross into the Greek Cypriot side from Guzelyurt region.
Talat told reporters that TRNC Council of Ministers took the decision to open Bostanci border pass the previous day, and said that preparations had been launched.
The border pass would be opened after all necessary work was completed, Talat said.
Talat noted that there was need for Bostanci border pass since both the Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots had to first go to Lefkosa to cross the border since there was not any pass in Guzelyurt region.
There was also need for this border pass for citrus fruit sale to the Greek Cypriot side, Talat said.
Talat added that they would open another border pass if necessary.
Free passages between TRNC and Greek Cypriot side started on April 23rd, 2003 after the decision of TRNC Council of Ministers was issued in the Official Gazette.
