BOZKURT - Turkish Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu said late on Saturday that Alaattin Cakici was arrested by Austrian police under Turkey's demand and cognizance.
Aksu noted that they were in touch with police of all countries where Cakici could go after he escaped from Turkey, recalling that Turkey was in cooperation with 48 countries in fight against terrorism and drug smuggling.
They listed Cakici on the Interpol Red Bulletin, an international alert for wanted persons, according to the security cooperation agreement, Aksu noted.
''Cakici was followed by Interpol in Europe and the world. We found out that he passed to Austria. Cakici was arrested by Austrian police according to our demand and under our cognizance,'' he stated.
Aksu said that the following process would be carried out under agreements signed earlier between Turkey and Austria, stressing that the dossier to be prepared by Turkish Justice Ministry would be sent to Austrian Justice Ministry. He added that Cakici would be brought to Turkey in line of this process.
