Gul: We Expect The Whole World To Put An End To Unfair Attitudes Against Northern Cyprus

ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Friday, ''we expect the whole world to put an end to unfair attitudes against Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). There has been a slow progress to this end.''
Speaking at a meeting, Gul told reporters, ''2004 was an important year for Cyprus. The world has understood at last that Turkish Cypriot people do not have any enmity, but they have peaceful targets. On the contrary, the Greek Cypriot side does not have such a goal. The historic referenda in Cyprus on April 24 ended the misunderstandings in the world. The referenda unveiled that Greek Cypriots were not ready for political equality.''
''We expect the whole world to put an end to unfair attitudes against TRNC. Positive steps have been taken. There has been a slow progress to this end. Now it is the time to end all those embargoes and isolations against TRNC. For instance, the European Commission has taken a significant step by ratifying a package of proposals with the aim of saving Turkish Cypriots from economic isolation. Beginning of direct flights from different countries to the Ercan Airport will increase investments in TRNC,'' he added.
