The United Nations Undersecretary for Political Affairs Lynn Pascoe met with President Mehmet Ali Talat yesterday. Pascoe stated that the meeting was very positive.

Presidential Spokesman Hasan Ercakica stated that the Turkish Cypriot Side expressed its position and expectations from the new process. Ercakica also pointed out that the President found an opportunity to express Turkish Cypriot Side's expectations from the new process; the Presidential Spokesman said that the President called on the United Nations to play more active role in this process.

Responding to a question on whether Pascoe put forward a new proposal or not, Ercakica said he did not propose anything and preferred to listen during the meeting.

Pascoe came to Cyprus early in the morning and also met with the Greek Cypriot Leader Dimitris Hristofyas.
