ANKARA - An electricity transmission line will be constructed between Turkey and Greece in addition to natural gas pipeline, and 64 kilometers part of the 260-kilometer power line will be in Turkish territories.
Turkish Electricity Transmission Corp (TEIAS) and Trakya Joint Venture (Akpe Ltd-Galdesan) officials signed a contract on Friday for construction of the line on Turkish side.
Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler, parliamentarians, bureaucrats and contractor company officials attended the signing ceremony in the ministry building.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Guler said that total investments in transmission in next three years would reach nearly 344 million U.S. dollars.
Noting that Turkey had entered the European Union (EU) with natural gas pipeline and they were going to enhance it with a power transmission line, Guler said that the electricity transmission line between Turkey and Greece would be 260 kilometers in total length and 64 kilometers part of it would be on Turkish side.
