Babacan Returns From Slovenia

ANKARA/BRDO - Turkish Foreign Minister & Chief Negotiator for EU talks Ali Babacan returned from Slovenia to Turkey late on Saturday.
Babacan attended a working dinner held within the scope of the informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brdo, Slovenia. The closure case against ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party was high on the agenda of the meeting.
Babacan, during the meeting, stressed that Turkey, as it is defined in the Constitution, is a democratic, secular and social law state. He added that every issue in Turkey is taken up in line with the rules; and separation of powers has a special importance in Turkey as it is in every democratic country.
"Thus, dignity and independence of courts are important. There is freedom of expression in Turkey and every issue can be discussed frankly," he noted.
Noting that Turkish democracy will pass this test successfully, Babacan said that every step which would be taken in Turkey will be on basis of legitimacy.
